YES! SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is a vital part of getting a website to stand out from the others and to attract visitors. For a website to generate visitors it has to be at or near the top of the first page of the search engine results page (SERP) on Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go (the best one!) or any of the other search engines.
When someone searches for something on the web they will use a word or phrase to look for websites on that topic. This known as the search term and will have key words or key phrases so you can understand that your website must emphasize these words and phrases in it’s content. The process of achieving high visibility on searches is called search engine optimisation or SEO.
While choosing the right keywords and key phrases is extremely important it is far from only factor in SEO and indeed there are more than 200 other things that determine a websites position (ranking) on a search result page. Some of the other important factors are the domain name, the text on the pages, what are called meta tags, how long the domain has been registered and the amount of traffic it receives. Also the number of links to the website from others, the structure of the pages and the speed at which the website displays pages,

It takes many years to learn the subtleties and SEO really is somewhere between an art and a science. Much of what is written is plain wrong and on-line advice can be dangerous to follow. One simple, easy to make mistake can cause your website to be so far down the rankings that it’s practically invisible.
SEO is the single most effective thing you can do to improve your website. It is also the least expensive and is the starting point for of all of your website promotion.
